In a positive view towards the global market, Fiat has a plan to double its daily operation at its Southern China plant. According to its general manager, John Burton, GAC Fiat Automobiles Co is considering adding a second shift starting April 2014 at its assembly plant in the city of Changsha. GAC joint venture with Italian company is considering being mainly; production related workers and in that bid it is to hire about 800 people, in addition to its current staff, of 2400. Burton said that this move is to make the company enter Chinese showroom after the Lunar New Year holiday. And for this the company is to put into full operation its Ottimo hatchback next year. Mr. Burton was only categorical on the expansion plans for Fiat brands; however; he did not touch the company’s joint venture with its Chrysler Group LLC arm to manufacture Jeep vehicles but pointed out that if need be, the factory could move to three shifts.
